Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for the 5th of May. Many people think this is Mexican
Independence Day but that is September 16th. In the United States it is a nationwide
celebration of Mexican pride and heritage.

In Mexican the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s
unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the
leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.

I lived most of my life in Tucson, AZ. These celebrations were always so much fun!!
